BOBM25, the hundred series Farmall"s were not styled by Raymond Loewy, but IH it"s self.

Get a 400 or 450 diesel with a fast hitch. They're not really "rare" but there's not a million of them around either, not like an H or an M. I'm sure someone could tell you the exact production #'s, but I'm guessing its less than 20,000 combined. The gas start diesels are a challenge to restore. Most engine parts are about impossible to find and I'm discovering that they made about 4 differnt kinds of fast hitches for the same tractor. IH came out with different options and updates for them over the years. 2-3000 should get you a good candidate, don't be afraid of one with the torque out either, thats basically just like rebuilding a clutch. Awesome looking tractors too, after they're all painted up, I think. Even Deere guys gotta love the Raymond Loewy styling!

I must be in the same boat, I love JD, & own 6 tractors, & 2 lawn mowers but I just purchased a Farmall H from my cousin. I've been getting a few funny looks from my friends & family for buying Red. Its just a different challenge & new learning experience, should be fun!!!

In increasing order as to size. (Similar models in terms of ease of repair and complexity are in brackets): Cub, (A,B,C) (Super A, Super C) (H,M,Super H, Super M), Super MTA, (300, 350, 400, 450), (460, 560), (706,806), and on virtually forever.
