You all said the timing mark on Super C was on fly wheel but I can't find it. I'm on TDC #1 according to punch marks on crank and cam gear when I installed them. I took the 1/2 moon shaped inspection cover off and looked. Can't see a mark on flywheel or a pointer. Please explaine again, I must have missed something! Thanks again.

It sounds like you are looking at the front of the flywheel. The timing mark is on the outside rim of the flywheel, not the face.

The flywheel is marked DC/1-4 and the pointer is a raised area on the tin flywheel cover but that dc/14 can be hard to find. Jim

Wire brush the whole thing, it's there, unless it has an aftermarket flywheel. The engine can be timed without the mark, mark just makes it easier.

i keep a bottle of white -out correction fluid in the tool box just for that purpose. it has its own brush, and lasts a long time. i never seem to have a can of white paint handy, and if i do, i wind up dumpin the whole can over on the floor.

When No1 piston is at TDC, both valves on that
cylinder are closed and if you removed the distributor cap your rotor should be at the No1 plug tower. Hal

On A's & B's the pointer is on the half moon shaped cover, and can be seen through the inspection hole in the underside of the bell housing/torque tube. Not sure about how they did it on a Super C.

Like gene said, once you find it, put a little white or yellow paint mark on it so you can find it again.

They are tough to see, not punched very deep into the flywheel. Are you sure you are on TDC on #1? Just for the heck of it, turn the flywheel 180 deg and look there too. BTDT.

If you are sure your dots are lined up there is a mark on the flywheel it is hard to see when i pull an engine i always mark it with white paint for future locating but if you use a scotch brite pad or something you can see it as the mark is not verry deep.

You didn't miss anything except the mark. That is a very narrow mark easily hidden by dirt, grease etc. Put # 1 on TDC and clean the surface. I promise you it's there. You can prop yourself up underneath and move the flywheel /ring gear with a screwdriver. My C does not have the DC or whatever on it that someone may have mentioned, only a mark. Doubt if the SC does either. If it is not there keep rotating the flywheel, clean it off as you go, it WILL be there.
