I'm getting ready to put a new mechanical TA in my 560 Diesel. Should I put a Sprage style or the ramp and roller style TA in it? It will be used for an occasional stock tractor pull but for the most part it will be used for haying and plowing about 15 - 20 acres a year. Also has anyone had problems with Ag Parts LTD or Hy-Capacity Ta's? I'm replacing the clutch also. Do you recomend the standard clutch or a heavey duty one? Thanks for your help.

I overhauled the ta on my SMTA several years ago and used the ramp and roller setup. It works fine but have heard the sprague type is more sturdy. I went to the pad type heavy duty clutch plate on the main clutch, it takes hold more solidly than the disc but not great for a situation where you have to "feather" the clutch such as on a loader or sometimes easing into a heavy spot with the baler.

Well i am sorta Biashere as being and old Hy Cap . dealer for 19 years And NEVER had one problem with any of the clutches or T/A's that i installed . Now when i was looken for a supplier i looked into all that are out there and Hy Cap. has the best warranty and the rest well Oh well now they may be a bit cheaper but when you are doing a job for a customer and ya don't want come backs it only costs a buck more to go first class and IF i would have ever had a problem thenHy. Cap would PAY my labor to replace the defective part the rest would not , So you be the judge . As for the sprag or Ramp and rollers the sprag is better but the old ramp and rollers lasted for a long time here it is your choise.

vet, dunno about that price thing. Got the clutch parts for my Super H from Hy Cap through the local CaseIH dealer. The clutch disk was competitive, but the pressure plate was 1/2 to 1/3 of the price of anywhere else.
