I have a Farmall M, and it has a lot of sideware (sloppy) on the clutch pedal. What is an economical way to take the sideware out of the clutch pedal without buying a clutch and brake shaft and boring and bushing the clutch pedal? I have no machining equipment for extensive repairs.

I just took a shaft out of my 400. It had .100 wear in one spot and about .09 in another. I welded it myself and took it to work and machined it down to size. It only took 15 minutes to machine. If a new shaft is $50 you may not what to bother repairing the old one, but ask at your local machine shop how much to machine it. The pedal has some wear, but very little compared to the shaft. The pedal would flop over and go along side the deck before the repair, now it only moves a little bit.

It's an easy job for a machinist, bushed pedal and new shaft for around $100. I have done that on 3 tractors so far. OEM Tractor Parts has new shafts for $49.50, also.

Take the clutch pedal to a machine shop. It"s no big deal for those guys to put a bushing in your pedal. Also, you might try putting a want ad on this website, once in a while you see rebuilt clutch pedals for sale. The pedal shaft is not an expensive part by today"s standards, and it is not hard to replace.
