Hello again,

I need a few more specs for my 46' Farmall H. What is the torque spec for a Farmall H head? And what is the torque for the manifold (Gas).

Thanks,
Nick

One other question I have. What is the tube for that screws into the back of the head and goes to the air inlet tube of the oil bath? (the tube that pre cleaner goes on.) I know it has to do with oil, but that is all I know about it. On my H it was blocked. In the head and the end of the tube. What will happen if I unblock it. Will my oil pressure go down some? I has just puzzled me since I took my H apart. Then there is also a hole in the cross-over tube, the tube that goes over the valves and stuff under the valve cover. Is it supposed to be there. I was well lubed with the hole. That is another thing that puzzled me.
Thanks,
Nick

"Cylinder Head Breather Pipe," the parts manual calls it. Provides positive (or negative, to my thinking) ventilation for the internal passages. Won't affect the oil pressure, but having it unplugged will allow it to work the way it's supposed to, which I believe is to help remove condensation.
Good luck, Wm

I could be wrong, but I think that is too keep the head evacuated of any leaking gas fumes. I think its a primitive form of the current PCV in cars. This vavle allows the intake to suck any fumes from the crankcase that might leak past the rings. These tractors dont have the one way pcv valves like current cars, But instead It's probably just a tube, But I'm sure it serves the same function. Someone please corerect me if I'm wrong.

Think about it for a second: Why would they have a tube if it's supposed to be blocked with crud? In that case, there would be no point to having the tube, right?

The tube is a breather. Go ahead and clean it.

Go 70 ft pounds on head.
35 ft pounds would be great on manifold
