At what time did McCormick Deering become just McCormick? I have a 1948 W-6 with the McCormick-Deering badge on the grill. I have read somewhere that after 1946 or 47 they just used McCormick. The tractor was repainted before I bought it, and the stickers they used just say McCormick. Really curious because right now nothing is matching. Thanks,
Charles

Depends on the tractor, I'm going to say mid-1949, certainly by early 1950. It is very likely that your W6 is a McCormick Deering, particularly since that's what the plate on the grille says, although IH could do anything they wanted on the production line during the changeover. Don't think that occurred until 1949, though.

Thanks for the reply. I always thought that 49 was also the first year of the distributor on this tractor. Charles
