Hf rame - 300U engine, hand crank won't engage

Need your wisdom here again guys.

Old, 1940 H tractor with a 300U engine installed. When you try to engage the hand crank the cogged drive rod will not move far enough in to fully engage the drive pin in the 300U crank. Just barely touches the pin and slips off.

Is there something here I don't know about?

Believe you are the winner--which is good, as you also had the only answer.

I looked closely at the alignment today from the distributor side, and believe you hit the nail on the head, based on what I see there.

I had a 1940 H that I restored,The crank was froze up, I loosened it and after it would not line up becaues the motor mounts were worn,This might be somethig to look at
