Dad was using the 1256 today to load some bales, drove up to the stack and heard a pop or crack before shifting out of high range and into reverse... shifted to reverse, let out clutch and tractor died like it's stuck in two gears. No high range either, but will drive in low.

All the linkages are connected and the two levers under the floor move like they should.

Any thoughts? I appreciate any help!

I've had to replace a rail that cracked in half on 3 different tractors. 1 a 1206 and an 806 and 856. If they get the top cover off and discover a broken rail, let me know. Once the top cover is off, it only takes about 20 minute to replace the rail, and you don't have to split the tractor. Good Luck

I'll be sure to post up what they replace and the cost - if Dad tells me, LOL.

Shifting fork or maybe the rail came loose from the fork and it droped away from the collar . Realy not sure here as you still have low range but not high and loacks up in rev. Hummmmm . Going to have to pull the top cover and take a looksee either the fork or maybe something with the cam . Sure hopr ya ain't got a cab on that one as the floor plate has to come off . Ya know how to get the top cover off along with the side cover and the extra set of hands .

Thanks for the ideas... not going to be me fixing this one. I've got work for another week and a half that I can't miss before vacation. I'm in AZ, tractor is in ND and Dad wants it fixed yesterday.

He found a shop that can come get it on Monday morning and tear into it. Hopefully it is not something that will totally destroy anything else!

Has cab and loader on it - more $$ for labor costs to get that cab out of the way. At least the loader is a quick on-off.
