Was wondering if anyone has ever used this. It is primarily used in converyor systems:
Link
I was hoping to use it to fix my generator belt on my 300u, as I cant remove the waterpump belt because the setscrew in my waterpump pulley is broken off. I do not plan to use the tractor in the cold weather, so the cold isnt a concern. I'm not sure how it would hold up to the engine conditions. I'm pretty sure that it would work for the generator, as its no more then 1 HP I assume. One concern is the tight radius around the generator. This type is spliced by using a hot peiece of metal between the 2 ends and then its slide out the the 2 ends are "melted" togther. The other type uses a double ended barb, but I've read that they arent too tolerant of tight radiuses such as th generator pulley.

I dont need 100ft of it, so if anyone would be interested in purchasing some from me, let me know. I would only charge realistic cost, not looking to make a profit.

Thanks for any opinions, Ideas and whatnot. In an ideal world, I would like to pull the radiator, and pull the waterpump off and drill out the setscrew, and retap the pully. I'm not sure I'd be able to separate the 2 pulley halves anyways. The waterpump belt is in like new shape, with the white lettering clearly visible, so that should last several years.

Go to Mcmaster carr.com and in the find products box type in 6173 K371. You will find ADJUSTABLE LENGTH V BELTING. 6173 K371 is the part number I used to replace the fan belt on an Oliver 88

Thanks, but I think I'm going with the Power Twist Plus belting. Looks alot more durable then the stuff from McMaster, and I can get it cheaper on ebay =)

I saw them hanging on the wall behind the counter, but I found them in their catalog too. The page number in the #397 catalog is 242. The 1/2" top width belt, which I think would work for the generator, is Part #5A547, #5A548 for 5/8 width. This is for a five foot length of belt. The manufacturer is Fenner Drives and brand name is Power-Twist Plus V-Belt. Hope this helps.

Grainger sells a v-belt material that is made of interlocking sections that you can make any length belt you desire. This makes it easy to get around the waterpump belt. My brother put it on the generator of his 300u three or four years ago and is still running.

Oh Gene, if it were only that easy!!!
The generator belt is actually behind the waterpump belt, so removal of the water pump belt is require before installing the generator belt.
I suppose I could try to wedge the generator belt under the waterpump belt and bump the starter, but I'm fairly certain the waterpump belt would pop off and/or stretch it a bit. Doesnt seem safe to me either. See the dilema? =)
AS of now, I just been charging the battery after every run. Kinda of a pain. My dad has some big backup lights for factories, uses 6v lead acid 25amp/hour batteries, so I might rip one of the charger boards out of there and make me a nice battery maintaner/charger. Bad thing is I can't run my headlights without a generator =(

Why dont you just loosen the generator then you can replace the belt.
