Chuck I tried returning your Email, but wont go thru!! So Ill post the info your looking for here,,,,,

What your looking to do is speed up the mechanical funtion of the governor. If you got the spring with the little steel clip on one end, remove it, go to TSC and get you a spring,, the same length,,,, Yeah, even though it seems strong tensioned, but its still probably 50 years old, and they lose tension from heat. A stiffer spring is the best way to speed up reaction time,,,, then build on top of that,,,, Yes, when a sudden load is applied,,, the governor should respond,,, but it wont if the Hand lever is in idle,,, it has to be up just a tad so it will respond,, it wont go to WOT,, but will increase. Dads super M, has a M&W governor on it,,, and that thing is so sensitive, if it feels a sudden drop in rpm it will respond wildly!! But its not a real good high performance governor,,,, more for belt, and PTO work to keep the rpms steady,, the weights are so heavy,,,, they shut the carb down faster than a 2 weight, and will kill the engine quicker. Removing some material off the weights will also help increase responce time,,,, its up to you on how much to remove,, but I take as much as I can without damaging structure integrity. Lighter weights are better, heavy spring tension is best, that will wake up a governor real quick. Hope this helps,,,, need more info, ask away! Happy Holidays, talk to you soon. Chad
