Paul, Hal, etc.: I know you didn't enjoy the idea of me not having any snow the other night. Last night the weather man was forcasting 1". Well guess what, we've received close to 6" in the last two hours and it's still coming, big fluffy flakes, 1/2 the size of golf balls.

Now, I see the picture, someone down your way was accusing Allan of leaving his 1066 with refurbished a/c turned on and cab doors open, sending cold air all the way to MO. You guys are directing this cold air north east across the lakes and it's picking up moisture, and dumping that solid moisture right on me.

My 130 may need exercise, but I don't. Ah, but I got you fooled, it's going to 45 degrees on weekend. I'll plow the snow then. But gosh, that weather man was wrong once, maybe his weekend is not right either.

Sorry to here your getting snow. At least we won't be seeing any more photo's of you in those shorts for a while. He he, I was glad the temp dropped around here again. We have a 1/2 mile of gravel road to get to the house and the bottom has just dropped out of it when it started thawing so fast. Have a good day Hugh and stay warm.
Paul

Paul: The shorts may not be gone just yet, weather guy is telling us we're going to hit double digit one the plus side next week. Double digit C that is or 50-60 to you guys.

As usual the snow stopped about 11am, then the wind came up, sure enough it's all in my yard and driveway tonight, and yes I can see soybean stubble less than 100' from the house.

I had left the truck parked right beside the house last evening. Buick is back on drive up to tractor shed and I can just see the roof. By noon I suggested to Marg. we go into town. There is about 18" of snow on driveway about 20' in front of the house. Not much on the rest of the way down, that tends to fill in after about three plowings. On the way out, down grade the F-150 plowed through it. By the time we got back those tracks had blown full, plus a few inches. Coming up the driveway, I got a good run at that drift I was about to encounter on the upgrade. I hit it a bit too fast then couldn't get stopped. I went a long ways, getting stopped inches from Marg's bird feeder. About 6' behind the bird feeder is a utility pole. Don't know which would have been worse, running over the bird feeder and the lecture that would have followed or hitting the utility pole. The pole is where our electricity splits for house and tractor shed.

I guess it's 130 out in the morning, hopfully the wind will be gone. I'm betting those blown in wheel tracks will be hard to plow by morning. Oh well, I didn't have to call the electric company with a red face. And probably by the time they got here I'd have had to plow the snow in the wind. I'm going to stay in and act my age tonight.

I just finished edging the lawn and the grass could probably stand one more mowing. We had about 6 flakes of snow even though it wasn't that cold. The temperature is suppose be in the 30's for Friday, then it's suppose warm up. I like pushing and blowing that snow. Hal

Hugh, Sorry about the snow but we just got froze out again. Woke up to 12 F this morning with very strong NW wind. It fell so quick nothing was frozen yet in the pet bowls. Not suppose to warm up until Saturday. Too cold to do much outside today or tomorrow. Have a good one and be safe on the slick stuff. Hal

The ice/sleet/snow we got was the first real snow we have had in years. It had been so long that I didn't even remember how to put the V plow on the loader any more. LOL

That's what I was going to tell him to paint the ends of the chains. Hal

It took me a few tries but its on now plus I also had to find the right set of chains for the tires. I have 2 or 3 set of them and they all hang in the same place so it can be fun figureing out which ones fit which tires.

Had the same problem. Ended up matching them up by shooting them in a couple of spots with different colors of Krylon.
Now I know what goes on which.

Rich, was up at the Lake of Ozarks a couple of weeks ago to look at a tractor. Was around the lake quite a bit so saw lots of boats and such. Saw on news the other night about boats as large as 60 ft. being sunk when the overhead roofs collasped from all the frozen rain and snow. Talked about millions of dollars of damage up your way. The video on the TV really showed it off as well. Hope you and your building survived ok. We were all iced up and covered up in sleet and snow about a foot thick total down near Rolla. Take care and stay warm. Hal

My horse barn tried to fall in but I got the roof shored up good enough that its not going to fall down. The Hoods store on south Hwy 5 fell/caved in sunday. Yep they say ice/snow damage here in this area will be over a Mil.

It's an unusual sight in South Dakota to not see snow this time of the year. Right now it's 4 below, with a forecast of mid 40's by the weekend.

About 6" of ice out on the lakes. You wait and see: this weekend someone will find out if their new 4x4 pickup can float.

Mornin' Hugh,

Boy! Moisture everywhere except here again. Started to snow last night at about dark; Got up this morning and looks like all we got is a heavy frost.

'Course, if it was really snowing, I'd probably be bellyachin' about that. :>)

Now, take note. The trouble with working on an air conditioner outside in the middle of winter is that the ambient temperature is not high enough to reach the threshold of the temperature switch.

It's so cold that the darned system won't kick in so that I can test it. What's a man to do? :>)

I think we might be pushing our luck just a little around here, but still no snow, not even a trace. Right now we have bright sunshine. the thermometer reads a big fat zero.
