I am speaking from SMTA and 400-450 experience and assume the same applies to your situation. In order to have a place to bolt the steering upright, you will have to put the SH lid on the 300-350 tub. It is quite likely that the SH shifting forks will not work so the 300-350 forks will have to go into the H lid.

Doing the above will probably present other problems like mounting the hydraulics. I dunno. I would start with the understanding that you are not the first to attemp this. So just buy both tractors and start building it with what fits.

To do the job right, you should really be thinking about only using parts that have a Z in the casting codes. Late SH's and early 300's have them. I have a late SH with the right codes.

If you want to do more research, try searching on HTA or SHTA in the photo section. I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few pictures. Email the owner and start a correspondence.

Wardner, you've mentioned the lid before, I forgot about that. I would like to do one, but will likely never get around to it.

Super H, and a 300 rear from the engine back. The Super H will have the same engine that the HTA would have had, provided IH would have used the same procedure they did when they replaced the Super M with the Super MTA.

Yes they do take the two tractors and make one. You do have to make changes in the lid for shifting. There is even an SHVTAD out there someone made pretty neat.

Yep, that is 3 830s tied together and controlled from a modern soundguard cab. They use it to farm. You can do a search for Don Dufner, he has a pretty good size farm in ND and works it with pretty much all vintage JD equipment.

It is practical and possible you will need an h engine and a 300 rear-end just slight modification is needed

The entire front off an "H" makes the sheetmetal a lot easier to hang. Use a 300 rear end and bolt it togather. The hard part is finding and H and a 300 that have faded to the same color so they have that "original" look.
