I thought I had flushed out all of the bad stuff in this restored H. I had never used the Hydraulic pump... so..never considered it. I drained it out today...bad stuff...very bad stuff...been in there 30 years I bet.

No pics?

I'm sure you know to change the filter, and if the oil is that bad, you'd be best to clean the resevoir and flush out the lines and the pump.

I ended up pulling out the pump on my H when I first got it to fix all the seals. I could barely pour out the "oil" it was so bad. Still ended up taking off the cover, and gave it a good cleaning.

What did you guys use to drop the pump out of the tractor? A jack? I need to replace the oil seal in mine and am not sure what would be the best way to get it onto the floor.

Being by myself, I did it with a wooden box and a couple of come-a-longs. A few pieces of board to help it balance on the flat surface. Slowly, carefully.

A floor jack and a couple extra pair of hands. The belly pump is heavy, but it is also quite awkward. It does not like to sit on the pad of a floor jack, so one person to run the jack, and another pair or two of hands to balance the pump and make sure it does not fall off the jack.
