There are so many canucks around Florida, they have thier own "communities". Some stores even sell Canadian newspapers. I gotta tel ya - bartenders and waitresses aren't real crazy about canadians - say they are tihgt with the tips. Some of them say they don'y believe in tipping.

Nice thing about Japan, they include labor in the prices they post and don't expect the customer to pay their employees for them. It seems pretty stupid to me to list a price and then charge an extra 20% instead of just being honest about the price in the first place.

Easy; Near as I can tell, both Canada and the US, have their share of tight wads. Don't think you could acuse either country of having a monopoly.

Just want to share a personal experience with this site. About 2 years ago, I believe I insulted some active, knowledgable and helpful people on this site. I was upset at the time, then became ashamed of myself.
I changed my handle and stayed with the site. I use it only to read for knowledge, ask for help and help others if I have any experience. It has always exceeded my expectations with the results.
All responses are not the same, but almost all responses have another angle, thought or approach to the problem. I know none of the participants personally, but have respect for all of them who are willing to take the time to help me. If it weren't for participants on this site, like Hugh, I doubt my tractor would be running at all. I couldn't afford to take it to a shop. I want and need everyone so lets be respectful and get along.

Not to start a war of words here but in defense of all non tippers or tippers be they Canadian or American. In my younger years I travelled to various parts of Canada, US and UK and to tip or not to tip and the amount to tip was more a local custom than a written rule. The Canadian unwritten rule is about 10% and the American unwritten rule is about 20%. In the UK there was a set service charge that you had to pay regardless of good or bad service.

My 2 cents

Yes - and don't you know - they feel the same way about yankees who move to Florida and give the state a bad name.

Those same bartenders and waitresses also say there are some americans who have nothing better to do than insult others and stir up trouble.

I'll say one thing for Hugh; I never heard him say anything unkind about anyone, or which would hurt anyone's feelings about themselves or their country.

Never meant to hurt anyone's feelings. I guess I'll post less often.

You are welcome here; hurtfulness, even if thoughtless, is not welcome here. I hope you will stay. We all think a great deal of Hugh. Would not want him to have his feelings hurt by careless remarks.

Please feel welcome to join the gang. Just try to be considerate of others.

Stick around; you'll have fun.

mike

Mike: He'll be looking for help one day, and we'll remember one day. He's been around before, but not for awhile.
