Is is possible to adjust the oil pressure on the engine thats in the H and W4? Its a 1948.

Mine carries 75# and I am wondering if that may be causing my rear main to leak.

thanks for any advice you guys may have.

Oil pressure does not get to the rear main seal. It is leaking but not from excess pressure. Stevein AZ has it pegged. 75 is normal for a good H-M or others in those ranges. The seal is in need of replacement. If it is tollerable, live with it until it needs splitting for other reasons. JimN

If you wish to drop the pressure (75psi is borderline on the high side), you can add another gasket - which acts more like a shim - to the inlet cover on the bottom of your oil pump. Just drop the oil pan and you're there. Also, check to be certain that no one has added washers under the pressure relief spring (normally a futile attempt to raise oil pressure), or that the pressure relief plunger isn't stuck in the bore. This is accessible when you remove the cover on the bottom of the pump. Be careful, the pump cover has spring pressure against it as you remove the last bolt.

75 pounds oil pressure is spec for the H/W4/M, etc.

You're good. Rear main seal leaking is common, just keep filling it up.
