Bid on a farmall 130. #180057275030 My max being about $1600. Has seven pieces of equipment with it. Bidding went up to $2900 so I didn't win. Got second chance offer (with approbate email from ebay) to sell to me for my bid. RED LIGHTS AND SIRENS going off. But I thought that I would follow up offer as the tractor is close enough to me to check out. He wants me to send by western union half the money as down payment and pay the rest on Friday when I pick up the tractor. His dad will be there to help me load it. The tractor is at:

2117 East 97th Street Floyd, VA

money needs to go to:

Michael House 20 Abbey Road London, FY4 2LB United Kingdom

Floyd is a tiny little town with no numbered streets let alone 97 of them. Would I send the money without checking it out in this day and age? Don't even know if I'll even bother letting E-bay fraud know about this.

I wouldn't send any money, if its close, go check out the address first, if it's even there. You need to turn him in if its a scam & this deal sounds like one!!

As I understand it, the way second chance works is the second highest bidder is offered the item at their maximum bid. The winning bid will be one increment higher than the second highest bidder's bid. That should be something like $25 or $50 higher than the second highest bidder. Anytime the difference is more than that it is a scam.

You can also just go to the item on eBay and look at the bidding history. If more than one person outbid you then it is a scam. Think about it, if it sold for more than $1000 more than you offered, at least 2 people were bidding after you dropped out. One of those people would be offered the second chance, not you.

Maybe. The guy is willing to sell to you for $1300 less because you're what, good looking?
Not in the real world.

According to googlemaps.com, that address does not exist in Floyd, VA.

I would defanitly tell ebay, If there good enough to be able to send you a second chance offer through your messages then the guy needs to be reported. I and others have turned a few in the last week or so and ebay is right on the ball. One was for a tractor and the other for ecsevive shipping they removed both within a day. I was at my bank the other day and the bank got ripped off for about 3500 dollars. They fell foe a scam. The people rec walmart money orders. For 3500.00 took them to the bank the bank cleared them in like 5 to 7 days the people went and took the money out on day 10 the money oreders were returned as fake to the bank. Now the people have sent the money to the scammer and have a felony warant out for there arrest. I think its the banks fault my self they cleared them but they say its the people. So that means even if the funds clear you can still be in trouble. J

Jerry: I never considered you to do dumb things before, don't start now. If his dad is going to be there to help load then his dad must have an address and can receive a deposit. I also wouldn't make that deposit more than $200. You should never make a deposit for more than you can afford to loose.

Don't dream of sending the money to some foreign second location. Why the heck would anyone ask that? They could do it themselves if it was legitimate. You haven't sent it already I hope.

Last several days I have seen "...if you receive a second chance notice, it is a scam, contact ebay" You/I owe it to others to let ebay know of this scam. Please read my post below in your previous posting. Yes, because some really are "that DUMB???" and will end up w/no item(s) and $$ are gone, gone, gone!!! ebay sent me an "URGENT" e/m message stating I should not respond to any e/m from sender and definitely not open any attachments from sender. Don"t let them have access to any information and don"t acknowledge them. Sophisticated software out there used by these leaches can bring you lots of trouble. Trust me...send ME your $$.

ARE YOU KIDDING?
Is there not a bit of a distance between the UK and WV? I only send money to where the item is located.
Seriously man.... It's $1600
and BTW, 9 times out of 10 a second chance offer will be for what the winning bid was. A second chance offer for half of what it was one for ain't gonna happen. They will relist it first...
Hopefully you'll get your money back...

I wouldn't send it. The out of country address says NO WAY. Tell him you will pay cash in full when you pick it up. If he says no, forget it, it's a rip off.
