Looks like Nebraska Cowman left us and started his own forum and tractor site. Apparently, he took some of our Farmall gang with him, too. Some of the familiar names seem to be missing from here lately.
I think I'm going to stick around here. I waste enough time on one tractor forum, let alone two.

Mike: I really don't know what all the fuss is about. I've been around here close to 7 years now. A lot of folks have come and gone, many of them just as helpful and as knowledgable as Howard. I will say not many have left with the same degree of publicity as Howard has. Bear in mind publicity is not necessarily all bad. I'm willing to bet both Kim and Howard have increased their respective revenues as a result of this little dispute. All this, while the rest of us remain revenue neutral.

I for one haven't shed a tear or lost any sleep over it. This forum will continue to be No.1, and very likely Howard's forum will thrive and prosper.

I have had some good experiences with Howard. He has always been upfront and honest with me...often sending parts without prepayment...I give him an A+ rating as an individual. I don't know the reason for his departure but I wish him well.

I don't have time for 3 forums -- I'm here and on this sites paint and bodywork forum most of the time and occasionally respond to a question on the Red Power Magazine forum, which is ok, but oriented more toward the later models. I bookmarked Howard's forum and will look at it occasionally, I wish him well. But, this forum is in my mind, irreplaceable. As to the comment below about more information -- I don't think so. More like more of the same in a different format for those who don't like this one. Someone here always has the answer.

Another forum, more information. I'm sure I'll use both. Opposite of Allan, I prefer the modern, more convenient forum type to this one, but that goes with every forum I visit.

Anyway, I'll be using several forums for help. I'm not going anywhere.

I think I might migrate over there. I just hate this sites software. I am used to vbulletin style software and will probably enjoy that layout better. I'm sure I'll remain here as well =)

Yes Sir,

He had to do what he had to do and more power to him, I guess. Yes, he took a lot of the regulars around here with him too and I for one really miss those guys.

I've been over there a few times, but that format really "wears" on me. Never did like bells, whistles and bubble gum; it just plain hurts my eyes. I like plain and simple black and white.

Betcha he still pops in here from time to time tho. Hope so anyway.

Allan

And it's only fair he SHOULD start his own site to promote his own business interests.

It's unfair to expect to be carried along for the ride by a site owned and paid for by someone else, in a similar business (parts).

I, too, sell a few parts and other items, and admit I HAVE imposed upon KIM's generousity a few times, to mention something I thought would help someone, not readily available on this site. However, I do NOT promote the stuff I'm selling in every single post, umpteen times a day.

I plan to set up a site in the near future, too, to showcase some of the parts we have and electrical (distributor and alternator) repairs and conversions we are involved with, and MAY ask KIM's permission to mention it a time or two, but would NEVER link to it on every post on her site.

Harley,

What do you find wrong with my post? I was VERY honest about having taken advantage of KIM's generosity MYSELF a few times, that I realize that's NOT the thing to do, and need to find a better way to do it.

Do YOU think it is right to continuously use someone else's site to promote one's SELF or one's BUSINESS???

Hey Bob, how about a site using us??? How about YT's advertising thousands of pages of "How to" on tractor related subjects, archives and stories, all from the people that contributed to this board for the last 12 years..doesn't it sound to you like the door ought to swing both ways...my contributions being used for their purpose.. any different than using their board for my purpose? I don't advertise or sell here but I don't object if you do, I don't see a problem with one member offering something to another by clicking "Here". As long as YT thinks its OK to use these thousands of pages of information for their own purpose, their way on their terms..then I think we are all being used.

Michael,

Perhaps you've got a good point about the contributions of "experts" benefiting YT, as folks finding this informative site may then buy parts from YT.

I guess we pretty much know that and accept it when we post here. For the most part, it's been FUN, and I've met a lot of great people here.

It can be addictive. I certainly know I spend WAY too much time here, and, if I didn't already realize it my wife frequently reminds me!

As far as keeping order here, KIM is pretty mild compared to Harry Matthews, over at SMOKSTAK. Yet, folks continue to post there, too!

Atta boy Harley!!! I'm with you. As far as this board(YT) in the parts business they won't send anything to Canada so why would I give a rat's azz. I'm certain Cowman wouldn't hesitate to ship a part to Canada. I hardly think putting an icon on a post so you can check the weather interfered with anything. I think Cowman got treated like sh!t. Kim needs a lesson on tact and diplomacy. I registered on Cowman's board and so did over 200 people so far, nice friendly approach. I am here less and less and plan on continuing that pattern. I was around when Cowman was one of the few regular posters, when your post was on page one for several days . The guys that were around then knew how to help you when you asked a question, I recognize a lot of them over on the new board, everyone is entitled to make their own choice, I am not trying to sway anyone, told you why I am here less and you all do what you feel is best. I've always tried to be friendly with everyone and I'll remain that way

And after Howard was treated like he was, especially after he was one that would and did give the shirt off his back and parts to whoever needed them, I was glad to go with him and show who I was loyal to. Friendship means a lot more to me than dollars, and Howard ain't tried to sell me nothing since I been over there so have a good one, Harley

Rusty...What's going on? I'm asking you because you're one of those guys on this site I remember from Day One (which isn't that long ago for me) and I trust what I read from you. You're one of "the good ones." Imagine my surprise and sadness when I access YT this morning and find out Cowman has left the site and started his own, taking some of the guys from this one. I know there was some disagreement about him using his icons, but so what? Never bothered me, and just made him a little different--made him "The Cowman." Give me a break.

I cannot tell you how important YT has been to me. It's my fraternity, my brotherhood, my nationwide network of friends who love old tractors. I know it sounds corny, but I think of these guys almost as "family," and I feel I could travel across the country and stop in on many of them for a visit. I've always found it fascinating to know where the guys are from, what they do/did for a living, etc.

No one like to see a split in their family.

Rusty, what are your thoughts? David
