Am I the only one who thinks Neil Young Rocks!! I'm only 26 and I think he's pretty cool.
I know he's pretty active in the farming community.
Has anyone ever met him or been to one of his concerts.
Only bad thing is his music tends to depress me, but I still like it...
Especially soungs like...After the Gold Rush, Hey, Hey, My, My, The Needle and the Damage Done, and Down by the River.

Sorry if this is off topic, I wish they had a general discussion forum. I've grown to this forum in the past 3 or so months, and have practically stopped going to my R/C forum. You guys are way more mature and knowledgeable.
As for not posting in other sections, its just the site is tooo big, if I looked at the new posts daily for the entir site, I would be on here for hours reading about things I dont wanna know about (Like John Deeres =) ).

Neil Young is pretty big into Lionel Trains too. He traveled around as a company spokesman for a while.

Yeah , I believe that Neil owns Lionel but I'm not sure . He got involved with them because his son is autistic and the trains brought him out . He also operates a home for autistic children .

Thank God that era is over with.... Now we have to figure out what to do next...
I used to think I dodged the war bullet by being born in the 80s, but I fear it's not going to get any better...

I do understand how some of you feel. But you have to admit that his basic underlying theme is important to us all. That we all dont have to agree and living in the USA gives us the opportunity to express our views.
I do know of his fued with lynrd skynard and I will keep my comments to myself.
As far as him being a canadian, well there are ALOT of people who come to the USA and live here for 40+ years for a reason. They obviously like it here. Whle you may not agree with his views, I haven't on occassion, as I stated earlier his main idea he is trying to get across is to Speak Up!! Change never occurs from people being quiet and doing nothing.
I'm happy this thread hasnt turned into anything ugly. Let's try to keep it that way. I liked his music when I was way young before I knew what the lyrics meant.

Well..... you're the one who brought up the man's name and asked us what we thought of him. And, you just said we needed to speak up.

How about this: "He is a wonderful, nice guy and we all love him."

Well, my wife is originally from Alabama, my son and his family live there, and we are moving there soon. So, you can probably imagine how we feel about him, if you are old enough to remember his remarks/lyrics. But, maybe his attitude has changed over time.
On a more cheerful note, we sure do like Lynyrd Skynyrd around here.

I was listening to Neil Young and Crazy Horse when I was in the seventh grade. My brother was always walking around going "Outta the blue and into the black" "hey, hey, my my,". He heard me play all those songs 100 times. A lot of guys in school were into that back then too. I like that song "keep on rockin in the free world". Southern man and a horse with no name kind of have to grow on you though. Kind of funny because my dad hates his songs. Will turn the radio pretty quick if he hears him! Later.

he`s been a favorite of mine since back in the 60`s ! have all his original albums too on lp and on 8-track. ( if lp and 8 track mean nothing to you then thats another OT subject lol ) he is a well educated man, and quite a musician able to play a variety instruments and as you have observed wrote quite a number of movement songs! neat that someone your age is inspired by a song writer from back in my days;;; that in itself says a lot about his talent! keep on enjoying !!
