I just went and looked at the (1941)H and came to an agreement on price. it is a little cobbled up in places, not running at the moment but was when it was backed into the shed. front tires bad rear are holding air but mismatched. manifilod cracked and welded on, exhaust cobbled up,grill needs some serious attention, hood good but exhaust hole is way too big, Not sure when it was last running, maybe a year or so. converted to 12 volt, distillate tank has a hole in it, the list can go on i'm sure.

no pictures,no camera sorry. think it was worth $200?

Now with the axles all the way ,in will it fit on a standard 16 ft utility trailer? too bad is is a narrow front. I'd like to own all the letter series with a wide front.

Any H at 200 bucks is great potential. I've found that wide front tractors are about half as nimble and don't handle nearly as easy as narrow fronts of the same model for most farm jobs...and the safer idea isn't so either. It's the width of the rear wheels spacing that makes the most difference. There are times when the wide front is nice though...like moldboard plowing and fitting down plowed ground

Good for you. I have seen WFs for an H in classified/ebay/Red Power-just keep an eye open. Think, if you spent the money in a bar (not that I am opposed to a beer, had two of them w/friend yesterday) as Archie Bunker said "...you can never buy beer, you can only rent it." your $$ would be gone, same "FOR" golf, etc. Glad everyone doesn"t want the same thing or we would be paying even more for the "red iron". Enjoy it!

Congrats Banjo, that should fit on the trailer but you probably have to have the wheels with the dished in. (hubs sticking out)

Ok Guys, i'll try to answer everthing. Mike Ca, i'd love to have your front end but i'm in oklahoma and your way out there .

I live in very hilly country and i know i've read where the wide front does not change the center of gravity, but it sure is a necessity here cause i get very nervous without a wide front. every tractor here is wide front. Like i said i would like to have all the letter series with a wide front. Why, because the cub, super a ,a ,c, h,m were availabe with a wide front i beleive. Only one that wasnt was the B and i could cure that.

I just have farmall disease and it seems to be progressing instead of going into remission.

Iron goes for $86 / ton here ATM, so if all else fails, part it out and scrap the rest and you'll be sure to get ur money back. Now Dont go bashing me cause i said that, at least the parts will live on on another tractor that may have had the same fate, save one or scrap both... Just an idea if something comes to light that isnt very nice financially...

Not everything can be saved, but I assure you your $200 was well spent. I'd drop that on a tractor in a heartbeat... but instead I dropped 1200 for my 300u with a loader...

In the shed is good...did you check to see if it will turn over (by hand)? Wondering if it is frozen up. You did good on the price.

Banjo, I've got an original IH Wide front end. I was going to put it up on Ebay, but we can work it out.

My e-mail is open. Let me know if you are interested.

If you really want a wide front, check out the photo ads - search for "IH wide front"

I put a Schwartz wide front on mine because I wanted a wide front with modern tie rod ends, etc. that would hold up to use of a loader someday.

Good score on the tractor, you should be able to part it out for at least what you have in it. Good luck!

Probably be a while before i can afford to explore further as i'm just in the beginning stages of fixing up a cub. I,ve got most of a B,and a C that is pretty rough shape (not running) 2-super A's (running and working)and a cub(running). And now an H to add to the project list.

Think that red bug has infected me.

You did OK. The tractor will part out for more than that. With the rear wheels all the way in, it should fit the trailer.

I figured the parts would be worth that and if it ever came to it ,even at salvage(not that i would do that) i wouldn't loose money.

probably be next week before i try to get it home(about a mile away). it is under shed at the moment.Got some nasty weather coming this way.

I just hate to see an old farmall going to waste. But i can't afford to save them all.

That is a good deal. It is always possible it will be operational with limited input. Good luck, JimN

Congrats on the H... that was a good price! I bought a H in pieces a couple of years ago for $150....it needed a complete rebuild, but it was a fun project.
