Ok, first question is about the cooling system. Is it normal for it to boil off the water in the system or should it stay? The level was just above the upper elbow inlet and it boiled it off way down. Next question is how to stop oil leaking out of top of oil filter housing around long bolt? I made sure to get the old ring out of the base when I replaced the filter, but it leaks around the top of the bolt. Any suggestions?
Thanks a bunch

If that much water "boils off" every time you run the tractor, no, it's not normal. Most likely something leaking somewhere. Any sign of water in the oil? Might also be head gasket. Top it off with water and let it get good and warm and watch for bubbles in the radiator.

If I remember right, there should be a copper washer under the top of the bolt head on the oil filter housing. If yours is gone, most parts stores should have some kind of crushable washer that'll work, maybe something for an automotive oil pan drain plug?

Ok, so I hadn't checked the water level in a while. It doesn't smoke or anything, but haven't checked the pan for water yet. As far as the oil filter housing, does the washer go on the inside or outside? Assuming outside, but don't know.
Thanks a bunch,
Michael
