My 1950 H runs good and does not smoke but I have low oil pressure. reckon whats my problem? I will not be working this tractor just parade tractor and as long as it don't smoke I am o.k. But I just wonder if it will be o.k. to run it. The pointer is not in the red but it is not up to 1/2 on the gage.

White zone is safe, red is not. Look at illustration 5A in the ORIGINAL Farmall H & HV setting up instructions manual. My 1943 H holds around 60-65 lbs oil pressure. You may just have a defective gauge or wrong type of gauge. red43farmallh.

You could remove the oil pan and then remove the oil pumps bottom plate. After many years of use it will have some wear showing from the gears. You can use sandpaper on a flat surface to true up the plate. My pump has never been less than 45lbs. since I did mine.

I"d put a known good gage on to see what the actual pressure is, then compare it with specs, before worrying about anything else.

Don't know if this is true on Farmalls but on some tractors haveing the wrong filter will cause low oil preassure. Also useing a muti weight oil can cause that problem also. My self I use stright weight oils only and this time of year I use 30W but in the summer I run 40W or 50W depending on the tractor.

If the tractor lives in very cold weather in the winter sometimes condensate collects in the oil. when it freezes it pushes the plate on the bottom of the oil pump out thus the gears will bypass oil and you loose pressure. I would put a guage on the line to check pounds.

Did you change the oil and filter? You could have thin oil or/and dirty filter, i would probly use some heavier oil, or you could just put some Lucas Engine Oil in. Another thing it could be is your gauge is bad.
