Is there a way to ID a 450 LP head while it is still on the engine? The casting codes are on the top of the head, inside of the valve cover, right? Thanks for the information.

I don"t think they are any 450 LP"s left with the the LP head. I"ve looked for 6 months every one I seen the head has been changed and most of the time the manifold also some of these the people have had for 3 or 4 years got them mostly out of texas someone must have went through Texas and got all the LP heads

Yes, above the manifold on top of head between the valve cover and the manifold. Non LP heads for 450 model tractor will be kind of level between head stud nuts. On the LP there will be dips or sunk places there between intake and exhaust runners in head. You can reach up under hood of tractors and tell if you compare the feel one time.
