New to the tractor restoration hobby. Having trouble finding a fuel sending unit for a 1959 Farmall gas tractor. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bob

bob, the sending unit that worked for my 560 is part #1341373C1. that is a different # from what is on the parts cd.
allan, i wish i had had your suggestion before i bent the old senders into pretzels (so they wouldn't be mistaken for good ones).

Bob. How do you check the fuel gauge to insure it works? I'm in a learning curve also. Sorry about so many posts but if you don't ask you'll never know. David

Allan, I'm assuming you are talking about nudging the sending unit in the gas tank. I have a IH 240 Utility with a fuel gauge that doesn't work also. Please expand on the subject. Also on Messicks site 126(A)for the IH and Farmall 240 the diagram shows a push button switch inline to the key ignition switch. This tells me the gauge did not read gas level all the time. Any ideas? Thanks. David.

Bob,

Take a small lock pick, reach in the rheostat and VERY GENTLY "nudge" that little wiper arm over just enough for it to make contact with the resistor. It doesn't take much; just a "touch" and the sender will act like a new one.

I totally quit buying sending units. These aftermarket things that are built in Mexico and sold by CaseIH don't read correct anyway.

Try it. It will work.

Allan

Bob I"m not sure what your calling a fuel sending unit these tractor have a fuel tank higher than the carburator and gravity takes care of the rest the carb has a float setup that regulates the fuel by jets in the carb but whatever your needing any CASE IH dealer should have the parts or get them quickly. ah I'm with you now I have had 2 560's (long gone now) but forgot about them haveing fuel guages. Have you tried the dealer? I never replaced the sending units on them I do know I had problems with one grounding right and would work off and on. Brian
