I had a quick look at a W-9 this morning. Can't remember seeing a gas 9 before. It had a mag. and was steel spokes on the rear with rims welded to them. Front axle was tire type. What I saw that I can't figure out, was a mecanical fuel pump with a glass bowl on the left side of the engine. It was not hooked up to the fuel lines at all.It all looked origional, but it doesn't make sense to me ?Anybody got any ideas? Jim.

It was likely that the motor was replaced with one from a U-9 power unit, or possibly a T-9 crawler, either of which may have had a fuel pump. If you look at any 9 series block (at least those I"m aware of), the boss is cast into the block for the fuel pump, but the holes not machined for it (unless it was a power unit!)
The cut-down steel rear wheels are more unusual to me.
Paul

I don't know, I've got 3 W9's, one has the fuel pump, the other 2 have a homemade plate covering the hole. I would guess they all had them, but since they weren't really needed, they were either removed, or just unhooked when they failed...

Thanks.A power unit would be rare around here, but it could have had the motor replaced from a t-9, but haven't seen one of them before either. we have a TD-9.This will be an early W-9, and may have come with steel wheels because of rubber shortage in WW-2. Jim.
