Ok my friends I have changed the Oil Seals on my 47 H's drive shaft and the counter shaft to the life all. I have the lift all on the floor and the reservoir separated from the pump with the drive nut removed. The seal looks to be intact but thought I should replace it sense I have it out. Not sure if it was leaking or just wet from the transmission side. Is there a good technique to remove the seal other then cutting it out from the front?

Thanks, Ron

How hard was it to chnage the seal on the drive shaft?

Just got done putting one in my SM this afternoon I used a punch and hammer to drive the edge in so I could work it out took a while but it works. Seal was $8.50 at local farm supply store. It's a lot easier to put in than it is to take out.

if its out on the floor, now is the time to change the seal. you can use a seal puller, sears sells em, or a small chisel and drive the seal toward the center and pop it out. if you dont change it sure as snot, you will get it all back together and it will leak like heck, least my luck anyway.
