I have had a Farmall 100 sitting in my shop for about a year. It drove in there and now won"t start - it hasn"t run in almost a year. I have had the starter rebuilt but the engine won"t even turn over when the battery is connected directly to the starter - bypassing the on/off switch and solenoid. Is it possible that the motor is partially "stuck". The motor will turn with some effort but I can"t seem to get it to turn with the starter... Any help would be much appreciated.

Pull the sparkplugs out. Put aut trans fluid in a squirt oil can and put 4 squirts in each hole. Let it sit while you take the battery to a Auto/electric /battery store and have it checked for output with a load cell. Then charge the battery over night with no more than 10 amp charger, or a auto taper charger to get it full of juice.
Then with the ingition off (if it has a Key, ground the coil spark wire to the block) and crank it with the plugs out. You may want to hang an old towel over the plug holes to catch some ATF. I think it will crank. If it does not let us know and we will diagnose that issue farther. If it cranks, let it do so for abouut 8 seconds. Then reinstall the plugs and coil wire. If it has fuel to the carb, it should start right up. It may need new fuel in the system if the old stuff smells bad. Good luck, JimN

No insult intended, but just to remind you of the basics, is the battery good? I recently both insulted and dazzled my neighbor with a similar problem. Even though he had the charger on the battery, it had an internal problem and was acting like a giant resistor. We switched batts and made smoke instantly! If you have another batt around....???
