hydraulic valves reseal

I plan on resealing the hydraulic valves on my 240U. The parts book shows "GASKETS" are used in several places and o-rings are used in just a few places. I don't have a problem replacing o-rings but can I make new gaskets out of bulk gasket material from NAPA? Someone has had the valves apart before and it looks like they resealed everything with silicone (it looks like hell!) I was wondering if the pressure would blow out the paper gasket material.

Any thoughts on this?

after tearing into a cubs hyd, i would rather use a pre cut gasket. I have made gaskets for other areas but there are lots of curves and holes and slots. Just my opinion.
I don't think i would trust a thin paper gasket on the head area. you could probably get by on the bottom.

Thanks for the reply--do you think the precut gaskets are still available? I will try the dealer that I have been buying parts from on Monday and see he if they are still available.

Thanks again
