I dont hardly post on this forum, usually I'm on the Red Power forum, but I was wondering if there are any guys on here that like IH pickers. I have currently a 234 mounted on an M. Looking into getting a 706G with a picker on it but its over in WI

I have a 2-ME that I am getting ready to take to the scrap yard. I helped my dad put these things on an off for years. We allowed a full, hard day to mount the thing. They sure were neat the way they worked. This one is actually one we bought for a parts machine. Anyway, it anyone needs any parts let me know becaue it will be gone by spring.

I've said for years- If a good 1-PR is $2000 and a NI 323 is $200, by all means buy the IH. Notice I didn't say a good 323 since they weren't good new in my book. Had an old 1-PR for years thought it had seen it's better day. Bought a near new 323-couldn't get rid of it fast enough. Luckily found another good 1-PR. Did I say gentle, quiet, gets all the corn even if down from weather.

I've got a 1-PR picker that I think is a better picker than the NI323 model if have. Only problem is the IH picker is harder to pull through the mud.

How about the 1 row mounted with a 20 Bushel tank like the one dad had on the F20 from 1939 to 1953. There could not be a better mounting picker then 234 on 706 806 even 1206 with cab.

Got a 1 row IHC picker not a snapper. Like it real well, other than for the number of grease zerks and the on off control system for the elevator, which wasnt there when I got it. Its in the 50s 60s as it has some white on it. Dad had a #24, and he has cussed all his life. Not that he didnt start way before that, but as we was to little to help him, and by the time we was in our teens he was the kind of guy who wanted to do it all himsaelf to make sure it was done right, I never got in on putting it on the H. Hew stored it inside, would drive it into the barn up to the elevator, take it down and lay it on a barrel. and then drive on inside for say 5 ft. Then hed take off the elevator and lay it aside. Then hed take off the picker. Dont remember if the center snout stayed on or not. Then hed take the elevater and back the top end inside where the tractor had been still above the barrell. and that was that till next year. Dont remember him ever having any real trouble out of it He didnt want ANY shucks to go into the wagon, so we had to ride the wagon and get shucks and throw them out. On an steel wheeled wagon box there aint mant ways to avoid getting hit by the corn as we would dive up to get a stalk. Dad had a hard hat like a WW 1 helmet. We would take turns wearing it, and all the coats we could put on and go for it.

I know of 2 pickers, 1 on a H and 1 on a M, but they are cotton pickers.

I like IH mounted corn pickers too. My neighbor has an old #24 that I am trying to buy off of him. I already have a JD 227 picker, but that does not count :-)

Oh yes it does,

Ya just can't get much better than that 227 in a mouted version.

It's the mountin' and unmountin' that's the killer. :>)

Mounting a 24 (or other IH) picker can leave marks on a person in several ways as well. JimN

We had a IH 2 row picker mounted on the SM. One side worked almost perfect. The other side was always giving trouble. And yes,it was a challange to mount.
