Foot Throttle - Super A

My cousin has a foot throttle that is on (from what I read) a Super A1 that he uses for parts. When I was at his house he wanted me to take it but I didnt. Now I have been thinking (which is dangerous) and decided it might be a neet addition for my Super A.

I didnt study how it hooked up to close so I am wondering if it would be a problem to add it to a Super A if it didnt come with one. Did any of the Super A's come with a foot throttle?

I had to get a new clutch protector and it was already cut out for one.

Good add on or a waste of time?

I have what I think is a regular Super A 1949 model and it has the foot throttle. How can you tell the difference from a sa and a sa-1? or industrial A?

Not sure, it might be an AI. There isnt much left of the tractor, he has used parts for his 140's. I dont think it had a diamond axle either but not even sure of that.

I just glanced at it and said no because I was in the middle of the restoration and didnt even want to think about adding stuff at that time. Now that Im bored Im think about adding things.

I believe it was only the industrials that had the foot throttle. It would not be correct for your super A, but it might be fun, and who really cares about "correct"?

If your friend has a Super A1 (sooper aaay-one), then he is a darned fool to part it out. Those are very rare and valuable tractors in any condition.

However, I highly suspect that what your friend has is actually a Super AI (sooper aaay-EYE), or the Industrial version of the Super A. These had foot throttles.

If you can get all the necessary parts, I don't see any reason why you couldn't put the foot throttle from the Super AI on your Super A.

I agree with Nat2. As far as if it's a waste of time, I have an AI with a foot throttle and really like how it works.

Check out my post "stump broke" up above. The tractor in the pic is a 1941 I4. It also has a foot throttle. I'm really looking forward to getting this one running again.

OK I have to go look at the foot throttle one more time to decide how much work its going to be and if I really want to do it. The tractor was my fathers so I try to keep it pretty original, well not original but pretty much like he had it. The adjustable axle had "gotten loose" and they had welded it at the clamp. I had another axle I could have replaced it with but decided to leave it like it was. I felt it was like he had used it so why bother.

I want a parade trailer now. Reddog has one and now I want one. LOL

Found two old trailers today in our pasture and one has wire spoke wheels. Wonder if its from a model A (car). Well, it aint a tractor but it may be fun if they arent all rusted out.

I wonder why I am out of money! To many projects and not enough cash.
