Farm and Fleet had about 5 different sealed beams that will fit the 400. One had a flat clear lense that I believe would be more like a spot light. Another had a curved lense that wasn't as clear. I assume that it causes what must be called " light refraction", that would provide a wider and possibly shorter beam of light. Which would do a better job at night while plowing snow? Anybody have one they like better than the other?

I would put additional lights on the fenders with seperate wiring to avoid dammaging the original switch, and alloing more combinations of off and on. Choose the lights with the wattage near that of a auto headlamp. Halogen lamps are nice and bright. (this shruggestion depends on an alternator that can provide the power to keep all thing operational. If you put higher watt bulbs in the original shells, the dimming resistor may fry. JimN

These lights are made by Wagner. The tag on the box says "Farm,Tractor" 12 volts. They do not have a watt rating on the box. They look like the same lights that are on the my C.
I looked at the Halogen lights also. They were rated 55 watts. I wasn't sure if that style of fog light/driving light would provide a beam of light that would light up the area close to the tractor or if they would have a long narrow beam. Thats why I hoped to get some opinions from the "board members".

Most lights have a parabolic reflector behind the filement that causes the reflected light to head out in a pretty tight beam (especially if it has a deflector in front of the filement inside the bulb). the bulbs that provide wide angle illumination have various bumps and ridges on the lense that change the angle to a wide pattern. The only caution is that the dim position can only handle the stock current draw without burning up. That is why I suggested that to make the situation more "Illuminated" it would be best to add a circuit. No matter what conventional bulb is choosen the same watts will produce no more light. JimN
