Moving a tractor

Let me know if this sounds crazy. I've got an F-20 with a stuck engine and clutch that needs transported to my garage. Everything else on the tractor is free moving. My garage in town is off an alley and does not give me much working room. Thinking of disconnecting the engine/transmission joint and hooking up a half inch drill to the PTO shaft. With the PTO engaged the drill should move the rear wheels and move on it's own power into my garage. Do you think the drill would move the tractor or do I need something bigger? I just don't have the room to push the tractor into the garage with another vehicle.

Saw on this website once where a guy chained a roto tiller to the back of a tractor and hooked into the pto and drove that tractor off an island where it was marooned. All it takes is imagination and ability to cobble things up.

I think the drill might work. Air the tires up as much as they will hold, and give it a shot!

Depends on the drill. My dad has a 1/2" drill that is ungodly large and will rip your freaken hand right off and the bad part is its not variable speed, as its out of the 40's. That thing is INSANE!!

I use a "Tall/Handy" Jack at an angle to move my F-20s forward and sideways.

I have to go up an incline so it might take several buddies. It's a narrow tread, so messing with the pulley is not much of an option (very little room around the pulley). Thanks for the replies. Maybe we will have enough muscle to push her up.

Push against the top of the rear tires from behind the tractor. You can gain a lot of leverage that way.

They are not at all hard to push by hand. Get one of your buddies, each of you push against a rear tire and it will roll right in. I removed the engine and sheetmatal from an H, put the frame rails and front end back on, and rolled it out of my shop alone.

I have certaintly done this with a pipe wrench on a pto shaft and man powered a smallish tractor ( ford N ) in. Can't say if your drill will do it or not.
