I want to put a shut off valve in the gas line on my 300u. No room for more than just a valve. Will a: "Ball valve construction, Solid brass body, Chrome plated brass ball, Teflon seals" angle valve stand up to gas?
I will appreciate any experience or knowledge anyone has on this one.
Thanks for reading.

Mite want to run the rubber hose as was mentioned any shut-off will work then put one of those in-line filters. I like the FRAM plastic see-thru jobs they do an excellent job and easy to replace. First thing i do when getting a new to me tractor is change over till you get the tank cleaned up.

If you have a rubber gas line, NAPA has a quarter turn plastic gas shut off valve that works well. You just cut the rubber line and fasten it in with hose clamps. I have that valve on two of my tractors. Been there for several years without a problem.

Jimer,
All the 300Us and 350Us I have seen have a shutoff on the sedement bowl. it is a small brass stem bent to 90 degrees and provides that option. If yours has none, that would be a stock solution. I think there would be no problem with the valve you describe. JimN

I can't figure out how I would have room for a sedement bowl. There is only about 1/2" clearance from an imaginary vertical tube below the opening in the gas tank and the steering gear box. I suspect, the gear box has been changed. Seems I read that if the gear box had been changed and one from a different model tractor put it (think 350U?) it would fit but was larger then the original. Also, the gear box is in pretty good shape and this tractor had been used with a loader.
I am tired or draining the gas tank on myself and elsewhere when I need to take the gas line off (which I am up against again as I need to get the starter out). Any ideas?

Go ahead and put in the shutoff you found. It might be good to put a sediment bowl in the line to the carb if it can be squeezed in , but only free flow fuel filters can be used in a non pressureized system. All others are too restrictive when partially plugged. JimN
