Well when we fired my M which sat for two years we first changed the oil, put in fresh gas, sprayed some either, and and tried it. If it doesn't want to fire with the 6 volt battery take a 12 volt battery get some jumper cables and hook them up normal on the 12 volt and on the other leads gron the neg. on the frame and touch the pos. cable to the solenoid and it should fire right up.

Unfortunately, that serial number could indicate any of about two dozen different Farmalls. Is there any other identifying markings on the tractor? I'm not talking about casting numbers or part numbers. I'm talking about emblems or decals on the side of the hood, other information on the serial tag.

Your life will be much easier if you know what tractor you have.

As far as further advice, I suggest you visit your local library and check out a book on gasoline engines if you're not familiar with the whole, "suck, squeeze, bang, blow" and "air, fuel and fire, at the right time" stuff. Knowing the basics about how a gasoline engine runs will help you troubleshoot. It's not all that complicated.

Well, with the carb & tank cleaned, fresh fuel & a new battery, the next item would be FIRE. Make sure the points & plugs are firing & with some good luck you should have it running.

As old said, (remember to leave the plugs out when you turn it over with the battery to clear the trans fluid out of the cylinders). Keep us informed on the progress. Several models were available with extra long axles, not uncommon, but a bit of a nusance when run into at night, or tight fits into doorways. Many are cutoff to the shorter length. JimN

If it where me I would fill the cylinders with tranny fluid. What that will do is free up stuck rings and prelube the cylinders, plus help remove any rust that maybe in the cylinders
