I moved my 986 the other day and the clutch returned slow. It has a cab and the clutch is hydraulic (way better than a JD setup). At first I thought I was imagining it but it is definetely slower than before. I can take my foot off it and watch it move. Any thoughts or experience with what to take apart first? It has been reguarly greased and it worked fine a six weeks ago.

These tractors DON"T have a clutch cable, So it's Not the cable, But it could be something in the booster, As was said was it very cold?

It's been sitting a while, I assume.

AFAIK, these tractors have a cable-actuated clutch with hydraulic power assist, and it could be that the cable is rusted up.

How cold was it outside? Is this tractor new to you and is it your first time operating it in the cold? Those clutch assist cylinders do get a little stiff when the oil is cold. If you've had this tractor for years and this is the first time you've noticed this, check to see if it gets better after the oil warms up. If it does, try a fluid and filter change first.
