remembering what I did

I've gotten to the point in life that more free time is available to do things other than work all the time, but realize my ability to recall what I did a few months ago causes problems. I removed a Behlens power steering unit from a 350. I have had the head rebuilt and installed new rings but have spent hours trying to find where I disconnected the return line from the power steering from. The line has a 3/4 inch male hydraulic fitting that I think I took off the right lower side of the resevoir, but there is only a 3/8 inch pipe plug in there. Just can't figure out how it was plumbed, and sure haven't been able to remember what I did? Don't remember having problems like this when I was younger.

Our 350 diesel returns on the right side of the hydraulic box. I checked at chore time, & it is a 1/2" pipe tee in the box. 350 non diesel may be different though.

I should've put this down on David's posting about veteran's Day. Hal

I forgot to tell you that my two brother-in-laws
were recalled to active duty in 1950. Both were married to my wife's older sisters and had served in WW2. They decided to make the military a career and both retired in the 70's. One is still living in Hawaii and is 93 years old. He was in the AF and the other was a CWO in the Army.

There's a restaurant in our called the Golden Corral and they are giving a free dinner to all active duty, retired or former vets on Monday evening. They've had this for several years now.
An excellent dinner too, buffet style. Hal

This is why I recommend taking a few pictures and making sketches when working on these tractors.

The 450 returns to the lower left side on the hydraulic box. There is a 1/2" pipe fitting there which it plumbs into. When I do chores tonight, I'll look at the 350 & see if it is similar. By then, though someone will have gotten you the answer. Like the Indian chief on Josey Wales said, "I used to have power, but old age is creeping up on me". I like to think we're a little better than that.

John, from what I can remember there is a short 3/8 pipe thread nipple that goes in reservoir drain and a 3/8 by 3/8 by 1/2 inch pipe thread tee and the return line should be 1/2 inch pipe thread to tee. 3/8 pipe plug goes in other opening on tee.
