Boys, please tell me if you have a hint of where to go on this one:
This latest super A of mine has perfectly working hydraulics - no noise, no slowness, no strange sounds and no leaks. BUT..... the levers seem to stick in place, and it takes a right smart amount of resistance to break them loose. Then, they work fine as long as I keep moving them back and forth. If I let them sit for 15-30 seconds with the engine running, they stick again. What the -----!
Anybody got a hint on this one?
Thanks, boys.
mike

Mike: The pivot of those levers have friction pads for holding them at the selected position. The tension on those pads is controled by a spring and tension can be changed by the double nuts at lever. You may find as you get into this you need to completey disassemble and clean up rust. I wouldn't put oil down in there, you don't want it on the friction pads. After you disassemble some parts should have dry lubrication. These usually give trouble about every ten years. I've put in the ocasional spring. Last time I did mine I bought all new friction pads before hand. I used some but not all.
