I have a 1953 cub, in about 1000 pieces. I am currently working on rebuilding the engine. I got a new crankshaft for it, but it is slightly different (has counter weights) then the one I took out(which is like the one in YT's online store). The cast number is 357247R1 on the new one. I don't have the 53 part number on me, but it is different. I do know the new one is for a C60 engine - I think it is just a newer replacement. The question I have is, can I use this new crank in my 53 cub? thanks

Probably from a power unit, maybe a later tractor. It should work OK. I would set it in place and rotate it to verify clearance between the counterweights and the engine block.

Before you reassemble, make sure it has the end bored for a pilot bushing. if not take it to a machine shop along wth a bushing.
