I put the culitvators back on the A after replacing the rear tire. As I started to back up, a cotter key snagged the valve stem and broke it about mid-ways. I lost the core and the stem..everything. I still have about have the stem left though. Have any of you guys had any luck working on a tube with a damaged stem? Can I still use this tube? Is there a kit or something to repair this valve/stemtube or am I SOL?

Tractor tubes usually have a removeable valve stem. The stem screws out of a base that's attached to the tube. This is to give you a bigger hole to pump calcium chloride solution in and out of the tube.

You sure you don't have a tube like that?

A good tire shop can replace it but if you can break it down a new tube would be probably cheaper. www.tuckertire.com has good prices. also www.tiretown.com amd www.nebraskatire.com. Yes there aint much clearence between that bracket aint much room there. Does your cult lift with one lever with linkage going to the back or do you lift rear with lever on drivers platform.

I'd say your SOL. I've tried to repair them before and even got the stem type patch and ya it worked for a week or 2 but it didn't hold up long. Even when I worked in the tire shops they always replaced the tube instead of tring to use the stem type patch. The boss said for what it cost to put one on and the fact the guy would be back in a week or 2 it just wasn't worth doing

I would take a heavy truck tire valve stem with a metal tube in it (from a tire repair shop) and clean and sand it well to give it a surface to bond to. I would then use a dab of urethane sealer/glue to seal it into the remaining stem and place a mini hose clamp on the outside of the tube. (I like reparing the impossible). It may even require removing the tube enough to get at the back of the stem. JimN

You can or atleast used to be able to put anoter stem on just like a patch. But the price of a tube for an A might be about as expensive as the new valve stem. Check with a local ag tire supplier.
