Hello All

I have an late 70's 1086 with a small elctrical problem. I have lost all the accesories in the cab except the dome light, which I think is wired hot all the time. The radio, heater, heater fan all that stuff did work , and then all of the sudden it just quit. I beleive the wire harness comes up through the front right post of the cab, but I am wondering if my key switch could be bad, or a broken wire..... All of my fuses are good. Any ideas???

I think the other guys are on the right track, however, if you still have problems, check to make sure that the cab is grounded to the frame as the cab is on rubber mounts and it is possible that something as simple as the ground strap to the cab is not making good contact.
Just a thought.
Paul

Sounds like the relay in front of your feet in the center to me too.

You need to check your switch to see if voltage is present for your accessories. It could be a bad connection at the switch from corrosion or rust. If there's voltage at the switch and no corrosion I would look for a broken wire. You will need a multi-meter set on ohms to check for continuity. You may need a helper to do this. Hal

Ben

Between the clutch and brake pedals there is an access panel that pulls off.

You will see a solenoid in there that looks like a starter solenoid. Make sure you have power thru this when the key is on.This solenoid controls every thing electrical in the cab.

You can here it click in when you turn the key on.

All three posts on the solenoid should be hot with the switch on. If the little post in the center is not hot with key on it maybe the key switch and not the solenoid.
