My newly aquired A needs new front tires. It has the adjustable front axle with non-adjustable front wheels. Which tire size am I better off getting the 4.00-15 or 5.00-15 tires?

I would say 4.00's if you have the 9.5x24 rears, and 5.00's if you have 11.2x24 or larger rears. I had a 140 with 9.5's on the back and it squatted with 5.00's on front.
What do you have on the front now? Do you like them?

I have not yet got it running so I don't know, but it has a 5.00-15 on one side and a 600-15 car (VW?) tire on the other. Primary use will be for towing a wagon through the woods loaded up with wood.

The bigger tires will help you in soft ground and help keep the front from digging in. Also watch how you load a trailor with fire wood or you might stand it up on its back tires. BTDT and found you have to laod the trailor the right way or you will do wheelies

Yup, always scared of that happening. In fact that is why I prefer a wagon vice a trailer. I was having the same feelings about the wider tires on the soft ground myself. I figured as long as they fit ok on the 15x3" rims that might be the way to go.

Had a B years ago and was hauling fire wood and I had the front wheels off the ground a few time. Even with a wagon if you get it to loaded down you could stand one up. Just be careful and be safe. Its better to make 2 trips then to end up flipping one over

I take it you had quite a load and a lot of ballast?

Well it was a small trailor. Bed was about 4X6 and had side boards on it that where about 3 foot tall. I had it heaped up on the trailor and I started up a hill. Ya the hill is what caused the problem.
