I have 2 of these plows, that I hope to make into one good one. I have a plow parts book from like 1939 on, plows that were built. This book shows the early and first models, but I am wondering how long did these models be made ? Has anyone tried to get parts at all from Case-IH ? Or, do you know of parts resources out there ?
And ..... ..when they are "out of time", is there any secret to getting them "right" ?
Dad and I used these plows back in the 1960"s, but I am very short on memory in using them now, any help from you guys that have knowledge of this McCormick plow, very much appreciated, thanks !!
I am in Wyoming.

I've got one too, that Colorado Curt found for me and it's a peach except for the shares. It has moldboards and shares from Crescent Forge on it and I have called them half a dozen times and whoever I have talked to is absolutely no help. Next step I think is heading for one of the Old Order shops and seeing if they can do anything.

MJ,

The plow you are talking about is a "tumble plow".

Biggest problem you are going to run into, aside from finding replacement lathes, is finding a blacksmith with a trip-hammer to sharpen the silly things. Almost unheard of anymore.

If your model has the single drop/lift and it isn't timed right, just roll 'er again to get it back in sync with the correct side drop.

They were the plow of choice up until the early fifties when the hydraulics came into play and IH went to the lateral spinners.

Good Luck,

Allan

Thanks Allan -- I should have mentioned that these 2 I have show the "plow chief" moldboards on them, with the separate heavy point at the very nose front of the share. Wonder if the shares can be had for these ? Or, how about the point ?
I thought I had read somewhere that these are still able to be gotten at the Case-IH dealer.
By the way..... who is the owner of Case-IH now, is it with another merger farm maker now ?
I hear so many rumors !!!!! !!!

I just purchased one of these over the weekend and, while the shares, moldboards and landslides are in decent shape, I'd like to have spares. Several have asked here, but I haven't seen any detailed responses. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Lyle
