Just picked up this 36 F-12 and I need to replace the fan belt. Is there an easy way to get the belt off - especially off that bottom pulley. I got it off the upper pulley because I had to replace the fan and water outlet housing gasket. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If it is anything like my 38 f20, I had to drop the bracket that holds the spring-loaded crank engagement part to get it off. Ended up breaking one of the studs off and had to drill and tap it out (twice). The studs go all the way to the rad. core, which meant I took the green shower, lol. Funny now, but not at the time. Moral: don't twist those studs off.

Are you sure the bolts dont go in from the front. Because on my F-12 they go in from the front so that you can remove the crank start shaft to replace the fan belt.

JJ, I looked again, and the bolts don't come in from the front like on my F-14 and your F-12. Really wierd. I'll just wait to see if anybody else has run into this problems and will let me know. Thanks for looking at your tractor though. I really appreciate all the responses I get on this web site.

According to the owners manual "REMOVING FAN BELT
Loosen fan spindle. Loosen set screw under fan spindle enough to allow fan belt to slip over the bottom pulley, then work belt up over fan blades."

Ken, I did all that, but I can't get the belt out of the bottom as the hand crank shaft is in the way and won't get out of the way enough for me to pull the belt out. On my F-14 I can remove the hand crank shaft with a couple of bolts on the outside, but on the F-12 the bolts seem to be bolted from behind and I can't get to them without a whole lot of work. Anybody else run into this problem?

I didnt have to remove any bolts on my 14 when I changed the fan belt on it. I just lowered the fan slipped the belt off of the lower pulley then worked it off of the top.Now having said that, the belt on mine may not be the original width, as I just replaced what I had on there and theres no telling where it came from.
