I've got a Super H stage 1 that is a real bear, but i blew out the belly pump years ago, and am really starting to mis 'em. I've also got a 300 with a ripped up tranny. I'd like to move the hyds over to the Super H and was wondering if the controls and resevoir would fit (300 has a T/A) or would it be easier to pull the belt pulley off the H and just use a reg control valve and slide a hyd tank under the gas tank...OR would you recomend bolting up a new hyd pump of the crank? Any Ideas would be welcome. Mike

I was wondering if someone would please explain the difference between "live" hydrolics and any other kind. I simply don't know the difference.

Tom, the older tractors (M H etc.) had a hydraulic pump mounted after the clutch. When you pushed in the clutch the pump stopped, no hydraulic pressure. The later "live" hydraulic pumps ran off of the distrbutor and ran continuously. Later tractors have live pumps in other spots. Dozers had pumps running off the crank out ahead of the radiator, so were live. The big benefit is when manuevreing and using the clutch you still have hydraulics.

The pump should fit okay, but the valves and reservoir won't fit without some radical modifications to the Super H.

On a 300, the reservoir and valves are also the steering pedestal. On an H, the fuel tank is in the way of mounting the 300's pedestal on the tractor. You're much better off with an off-the-shelf hydraulic valve and a simple tank reservoir mounted up under the gas tank.

A Stage II's reservoir is mounted up in front of the belt pulley. There's room for a couple gallons of reservoir up there without having to remove the pulley drive.
