What color should the belly-mount cycle bar mower
be painted? I have been told any part that touches the ground should be blue. Any help
appreciated.

Charles: All steel parts of an A-22 mower are IH blue and wood parts are clear varnish. Other IH mowers have red frames, but not the A-22.

Charles,

I haven't seen many posts on this forum that I disagree, with but I do not agree with the "paint it blue" folks. I believe the sickle bar mower bodies were painted red with varnished natural (quasi-black) cutting bars.

Have you checked the Wisconsin archives. The paint scheme specifications for lots of the IH line are there for your viewing pleasure.

All that said, any IH color will look better than none.

Have fun with your project.

Yes, I believe that your sickle bar should be blue. I have seen many pictures of blue implements, and the counterwei9ght on my sickle bar has remnants of blue.
