WHen you drop the pump down tape the coupler to the pump shaft so that it stays in place going up and you wont pinch any fingers.then jack the pump up.Dont forget to unhook all piping.

Tim 2 -The coupler on an M is simply a slide in affair. It is slotted in 2 different perpindicular directions. Simply lower the belly pump by removing the bottoms bolts and of course the fill pipe, the raise lower arm and the 1/2 inch pipes. Put a lttle grease on teh connector and rais ethe pump back into place and rescure all parts. If you use a floor jack you can do it your self.

Tim, get two threaded rods at the hardware store the same size as the bolts that hold the pump in. cut them in half and put each half in the bolt holes for the pump. you will need a helper or a floor jack to lift the pump up to the rods. you then put a flat washer and nut on the rods. Turn each nut in turn a few times to raise the pump until the drive shaft is just below the counter shaft, a ratcheting wrench works great. Install the coupler in the pump and turn it so the key on the counter shaft side is aligned straight up and down, the pump side key will be running side to side. (make sure the counter shaft keyway is lined up to accept the coupler before you start) Finish tightening the nuts until the pump is all the way up. The coupler will now be held in place and should be aligned. Jamb a couple of nuts together at the bottom of the rods and one at a time replace them with the bolts, reconnect the plumbing and you should be good.

You have to lower the pump down far enough to put the coupler in either the pump or drive shaft (horizontally) and then align the other part vertically so the pump can be raised into position again. Don't remember if the hydraulic pipes and control lever have to be removed, but I suspect they do.
