Hello,
I have recently posted about the charging system project on my H, Got it up and going thanks to the help here. After getting it to work, The adjustable pulley on the gen was froze so I had to pull it away from the engine and tighten lower mounting bolts to hold it in place. After installing a good adjustable pully (thanks cowman), I have the gen mounted in its proper fixed position, and the belt (a new replacement) tensioned what I think is correct. Now with the engine at Idle the amp meter is at 0, and with the lights on it drops to about - 10. When I bring up the rpm the amp meter comes up toward the 0 again, but it has to be at full throttle to get to 0. Apparently the belt running in the larger diameter of the pulley made quite a difference in the output of the generator. It seems if the gen was working properly, this would not be a problem, Should I have the gen checked again,or get a shorter belt so the pulley could be opened up a little deeper? Is there any adjustment in the regulator? Or could my battery be questionable, it did sit for a long time, but it charged up and started the tractor many times before I put the gen back on. Questions, Questions, Questions....Tom

Time to have the generator and regulator checked at a shop that repairs them.

I would use a shorter belt and get some speed in the gen. The regulator may need some adjustment. JimN
