Hi I found this nice looking tractor it has a narow front end seat in the middle says C. And it has a small but pretty heavy draw bar and hitch. It has drum brakes. There is a battery box under the seat yet the battery sits just behind the touch control. It has live hyd. the motor serial says R A A M 334298.
it looks like the battery is where it belongs but why a battery box under the seat. The few cast codes I checked one on tranny top cover and an axle housing did not match either. Is this something someone put together with spare parts? C with SA motor? JON

The serial number is too high for a Super C. I954 started with 187788. Not sure if the motor was replaced with a motor out of something else. Like Nat2 said, the tool box has an opening on the back. A C will have band brakes. Also the gas tank sits right on top of the touch control unit on the C and have about 2 inch gap on the Super C. Paul Shuler has a nice picture of his C and Super C setting side-by-side. The C will have 36" tires on it and you sit right in the middle of the tractor. The steering wheel is slightly off-center to the left since the steering shaft runs down the left side of the tractor. I am leaving for the weekend but you can call me and I can e-mail you some pictures of my C and Super C. Randy (402)981-6633. Otherwise send me an e-mail and I will send them on Monday. My e-mail is uncovered.

The prefix you listed is FAAM, not RAAM. That is a Super A engine prefix, the Super A and C engines are identical, except the governed speeds are slightly different. The engine prefix for a C/Super C is FCM. Since you have drum brakes, you have a C, not a Super C. The chassis serial is supposed to be on the right side of the tool box, it is missing or you would have seen it. If I missed something, someone will tell me about it. Casting codes are usually different, as they were cast over a period of days to months.

There's an access hole in the back of the underseat "battery box" right? That's not a battery box. It's a tool box. All Cs and Super Cs have them.

As far as the engine serial number... They used the C113 in Cs, same engine as the Super A. The engine blocks came off the same line, and I am pretty sure IH didn't have a separate serial numbering for the C blocks and Super A blocks.

Sorry Nat I am kinda confused So its just a straight C? But The ser # Is to Hi for a C ? Right? Well the reason I thought it was a battery box was it looks just like the one on our 300. JON
