I have a 1950 M that has been converted to Lambert disc brakes. My problem is that they are well worn and the brakes aren't any good.So far I haven't been able to get any parts for them to rebuild them. Does Any one have any experience with Lambert disc brakes? From what I can find out they were made by a aftermarket company to to replace the band and drum brakes on the M prior to IH making their own disc brakes on the later models. Were they ever any good? I suppose they were supposed to be better than the drum type. Can they be converted back to the drum brakes that were orginal on the 50 M Without pullimg the transmission top? My son has a 43 M with the drum type brakes and they are great compared to mine.Sorry about the long post.I Would appreciate any and all information you guys can give

I took the Lambert disks from my MD to a local clutch brake shop. They relined them for me. I took everything apart, inspected and cleaned, roughed up the metal actuator and metal disk surfaces on the tranny housing and in the metal housing with 80 qrit sandpaper. Reassembled and they have been working for 5 years, although the tractor is used little.

The Disc brakes that I have are listed in the parts manual under Special equipment they have 3 bolts holding the brake housing to the tractor. My local dealer says they are no longer available. the discs are 6 inches in diameter and have 26 splines the ones I have seen in parts catalogs and on this site do not have any listed with 26 splines.

Sometimes you can rough them up with a disc grinder then reinstall flipped over so they are turning bacwards from original this has worked for me in the past.

You should be able to take your discs to a clutch shop and have them relined. Either regular clutch lining or kevlar clutch lining work much better than brake lining.

Clean up all the metal surfaces so they're smooth and dry before you reassemble.

The last I knew IH still carried the brake disks. The parts are listed in their catalogs.
