hi got all the bolts out. need to know if the two bolts that bolt the gastank/aircleaner assembly need to be removed to get engine free. It is right above the starter that attaches to the bellhousing?

Remove the starter and reach in with a 3/4" socket and remove the bolt in the stater housing. I just removed the engine on my parts H and there was one in there.

To answer your question, no. The fuel tank support bracket attaches only to the clutch housing. There is a pipe fitting for the crankcase ventilation system that is threaded into the back end of the head. The separation can go a bit easier if it is removed too.

On the H I am pretty sure you have to take the starter off and there is a 1/2 bolt with a 3/4 head in behind the starter just above the ring gear. There is also one straight across from this one that is exposed from the out side of the bell housing.

I'm too lazy to go out and look, but my initial answer is no. If you think you have it all loose, and it won't come apart with gentle persuasion; on some models there is a bolt inside the hole where the starter goes in. Remove the starter and look.

Although my Super H doesn't have those bolts, I thought the H had a couple of them -- I have not had a straight H apart. If not, the studs that line up and also aid in connecting the the engine and torque tube are rusted and hanging up. It should work loose.
