Hi,

I am restoring a 1947 Farmall Cub, and I recently removed the crankshaft gear so I could replace it with a new one. The new one has arrived, but I can't seem to get it on the shaft. I tried heating it to 340 degrees, but so far it won't budge. Does anyone have an idea of how to get it on?
Thanks,
Andy

You may need to have it pressed on where they have a hydraulic press. Your local auto machine shop should have a press for doing that. Hal

try wrapping the shaft with a few ice packs as well as heating the pulley. lots of lube too on the shaft. Also, if the pulley is keyed, try without the key to eliminate that being what is causing it to stop.

Was the old one hard to remove?
You can also use a piece of oak and try tapping on it with a hammer, dont get too crazy tho
